Has anyone else taken drastic measures before finding IE?

I was 15 when I had my stomach stapled (gastroplasty- not the bypass). I lost 50 lbs in a month and a half and gradually gained back about 10-20. While it was a drastic action, it helped me a lot to feel better about myself and start getting a little self esteem. That was many years ago. My weight has stabilized around 205-210 when things are going well. Now that I am working on IE, I realize I don't feel hunger due to my surgery. Sometimes I can feel my stmach is empty but hunger isn't really there anymore. I am still in the habit of eeating often though. When I am stressed, I can't eat much or I get sick. When I am sad or anxious, I can eat until the cows come home and not get full which I don't understand. I still get sick enough to make life interesting with this surgery. Has anyone else gone through similar things?

I would like to get bypass surgery on my intestines, but insurance

denied me. I'd like to get it because there is evidence that is has

great benefits when it comes to diabetes treatment (as it seems almost

regardless of weight loss). Goes for RNY and BPD-DS (would like to have

the later).

I think I'm going to try it again with insurance. And if my current one

will deny me again I will change insurance company and maybe then they

won't deny me the surgery. It's still like playing the lottery but some

patients got from their new insurance company what they didn't get from

their former.

To think about that I could have gotten rid of diabetes a year ago makes

me angry, helpless, depressed and frustrated.

And I think it comes down to helplessness because I'm dependent on an

insurance company. Hopefully I'll pass my exam and get a job. Then

surgery will only be a few months away - and hopefully remission of DM

(at least for a few years) as well.

Regards

s.
