Guest guest
Hi , This is what I was using too, I got it from Vitacost.com. It is not GF. The malt coloring contains wheat (it says so right on the bottle). But, it is ok for us. Just thought I'd put that out there in case anyone needs to know. Guest guest
I used to take on occasion 1-3 mgs of Melatonin, but stopped due to grogginess in the morning. The sleep disturbance problem caused by LDN was very minor in my case. Valerian works very well as a sleep aid, too. Guest guest
Hi Jim, 20 mg of melatonin is pretty standard. The effect of this is a little grogginess in the morning. The issue of habit-forming is easy to answer. If you do not take care of the root cause of low melatonin levels in your body, you will be dependant on it for the rest of your life. If you work on the hormonal issues associated with low melatonin levels, then you can restore the normal production of this (70% of it in your gut) and regain your sleep naturally. I hope I did not confuse you more! Bless you, Johanne From: jpking@... Guest guest
Hi 20 mg is the maximum dosage for melatonin and you can have nightmares. If you never have used melatonin then I will recommend you to start with 3mg 1 hour before bedtime and increase dosage to 6 mg and see how you feel. Guest guest
I have been taking 20 mg melatonin before bed for almost 11 months now, at the recommedation of my doctor. I was previously taking only 5 mg. I have had no side effects and it is not habit forming and unlike a sleeping pill, you don't wake up groggy in the morning, just well rested. There is an increased incidence in cancer with melatonin deficiency. If you sleep in a room with ANY source of light at all, it interferes with your body's ability to make melatonin, and your immune system suffers. Guest guest
I think melatonin's an extremely valuable cancer-healing supplement. My notes: start w/low dose and build up to 20-50mg; less than 15mg may be ineffective; take only at night (never early in the day), ideally at bedtime. Side effects usually go away within a few days. Effective w/advanced melanoma, estrogen-positive metastatic breast cancer, metastatic colorectal, & lung (including metastasized SCLC & cisplatin-resistant metastatic NSCLC) cancer, met. renal cell carcinoma, GBM, and single brain metastasis. Reduces multidrug resistance (MDR) (www.denvernaturopathic.com/news/multidrugresistance.html). Enhances effects of Tamoxifen (especially for metastasized breast cancer); helpful to take during radiation; synergistic w/radiation for GBM. Synergistic w/interferon for renal cancer. I heard that it enhances effectiveness and reduces toxicity of IL-2 but also can be dangerously synergistic w/IL-2. " Could be used with Adriamycin and cisplatin....good sources Nature's Way, Source Natural, Nutricology and NatureMade " www.annieappleseedproject.org/repfromcanco.html. Guest guest
Sounds like candida to me too. My son had that same kind of reaction for a couple days and nights during his flair up. We use melatonin with our son every night and he usually is asleep within 45 min. But as we all know what works for one may not 4 another. Guest guest
Yes, you can give Melatonin. It comes in chewable (sublingual) or regular. Several dose levels, 1mg, 2.5 mg, 3mg, 5mg.  If you are giving it to a child, they can have up to 5mgs. Adults can adjust their dose to appropriate levels. There is no wean off period as it works with the B-Complex vitamin system. There is no build up either. This info is from a combination of personal research and our developmental pediatrician's suggestion to USE melatonin, if you can believe it!    But be aware, once it's in your system, you should be ready and prepared to go to bed once it takes effect. It should take effect within 30 minutes to an hour. There is no " hangover " the next day either. Sincerely,

Guest guest
Melatonin does not have to be given consistently and does not need to be tapered down before you stop. Try to take the lowest dose required. I cannot take it but my son does well with 1mg and my daughter with .5 mg. My daughter asks for it. Guest guest
I do not do well with melatonin. Someone told me there is a relationship with seratonin (I'm pretty sure that was it) and if seratonin is messed up then melatonin might not be tolerated. Anyone else hear that?
