Guest guest
More than likely it took 15 years to figure out how to put together a elaborate kickback scheme that could make sure the process would pay again & again. Look at the history of (GPO's) Hospital Group Purchasing. Many of the groups are making big money for the persons in the middle while ripping the Hospitals, Medicare and Medicade. > > > > I know we have discussed cord clamping, but i can`t remember if this > > issue was brought up.The big bucks being made off cord blood for stem > > cell research. Is this the real reason our babies cords are being > > clamped to soon. That babies with biliruebin issues had there cords > > clamped to soon. Guest guest
We stored Allie's stem cells & she's the only one with autism, but I just watched the tape recently & I don't see them as clamping her any sooner than my first child, when storing cord blood wasn't commercially available to parents yet. Personally I think it's OBs in a hurry to get done so they can get back to seeing their patients. I tend to believe the major aspect of jaundice is vit K shots, but I could certainly be wrong, at least according to hubby <g> Debi > > I know we have discussed cord clamping, but i can`t remember if this > issue was brought up.The big bucks being made off cord blood for stem > cell research. Is this the real reason our babies cords are being > clamped to soon. That babies with biliruebin issues had there cords > clamped to soon. Guest guest
A cord shouldn't be cut till it stops pulsating, by which time an OB would be already stripped of his scrubs, and on his way to the golf course, can take as long as twenty or more minutes. Hematocrit levels of late clamped babies is significantly higher than early clamped, the effect lasts up to 4-6 months postnatal. One could go as far as saying lower incidence of jaundice in late clamping as well. Guest guest
We only stored stem cells from our NT daughter, all of my babies had cords clamped about the same time (all were scheduled induction, same meds, same timeframe, birth within 30 minutes of each other). All had newborn jandice except the latest, and only my ASD son needed bili light treatment (mostly due to him being a winter baby, with a late summer bday we were able to expose our older NT daughter to more sun.deverelementary <kearneysix@...> wrote: A cord shouldn't be cut till it stops pulsating, by which time an OB would be already stripped of his scrubs, and on his way to the golf course, can take as long as twenty or more minutes. Guest guest
Is there a good reason to store cord blood for autism? I am due with #3 in 3 months, and am wondering if doing this could be helpful to my other boys for ASD reasons down the road? Guest guest
I think we don’t know the answer to this. I think it’s possible. I would store it if I were about to have a baby. I have heard it’s kinda pricey. Pamela “Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you're scared.
